Artist Bailout is an initiative to democratically fund new artwork by emerging artists in Los Angeles, CA, USA. The project produces public meals designed to solicit community-driven financial support for cultural production. These meals occur annually in the Los Angeles area and are produced in partnership with the Echo Park Time Bank. Patrons pay $10 for a meal and a ballot and during the meal artists present projects they would like to be founded. At the end of the meal, patrons vote for who should get the pot of money and two artists are awarded micro-grants.
Artist Bailout was founded in 2010 by Elana Mann and Autumn Rooney. Currently, the project is collectively organized by five people, including Mann, Rooney, Michael Rippens, Jenn Su, and Laura Noguera.
